Effective communication requires continual effort and attention. To ensure safety in hazardous industries, shift handover, procedures and control of work are particularly important. Our psychologists will help you develop ongoing, quality, open communications about safety between all employees – not just when risky behaviours are observed.

Our psychologists have a wealth of experience addressing safety communications topics, from improving shift handovers and control of work systems to procedure review, evaluation and re-writing. Poorly developed or poorly presented procedures have been linked to numerous incidents and are frequently cited as one of the main causes of major accidents. We use a structured approach and a set of design principles to improve the quality of procedures within an organisation.

We also provide training to managers, supervisors and workers in holding Positive Safety Conversations (PSC). This is a research-based method developed by The Keil Centre designed to improve the effectiveness of discussions about safety performance. This is done by avoiding “social threats” and demonstrating traits that build trust with others.

We have supported projects in many sectors, such as oil and gas, energy, pharmaceuticals, distilling, manufacturing, civil engineering and chemical processing.
