We provide support to ensure that the human factors elements of design are adequately covered. Our team can be engaged to resolve specific technical issues or to undertake the human factors management and technical implementation for an engineering project.

The scope depends on the complexity and criticality of the system(s). It can be as large as developing a whole new system or as small as reviewing a single control panel. Our experience includes designing/ upgrading infrastructure, buildings/ facilities, vehicles, control rooms/ workspaces, control systems, equipment and plant. Some clients have their own human factors team to support engineering projects, but many do not. We can support your human factors team or perform the human factors role on your behalf. Our expert team:
  • performs screening analyses to determine the scope of the human factors effort
  • prepares and manages projects against a Human Factors Integration Plan
  • uses documented analysis techniques to understand the end users’ needs and to prioritise tasks and equipment
  • combines these with relevant legislation and standards to define the requirements for design
  • assists with other project activities, such as safety and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) analyses, model reviews and work environment hazard reviews
  • supports design by considering different options and design trade-offs
  • uses calculations and drawings to communicate design concepts
  • tests the design with end users and/ or undertakes expert reviews until an optimal solution is identified
